Why Session Structure Matters
A session is the fundamental unit of play. It's what players remember between games. A poorly structured session—one that drags, ends abruptly, or never gains momentum—leaves players feeling unsatisfied, even if the individual encounters were good.
Great GMs instinctively structure sessions. This resource makes that instinct explicit, giving you frameworks for different session types, tools for pacing, and techniques for beginnings and endings that stick.
The goal: Every session should feel like a complete experience—a short story within the larger novel of your campaign.
